Conversation With Pete

Sitting in Pete's very empty bare room today:

Me: "What do you want to do in your room Pete? Moons, BuzzWoody, trains?"
Pete: "Penguins."
Me: "Penguins? Really?"
Pete: "I like penguins mom."
Me: "Ok. And what color do you want in here?"
Pete: "Yellow."
Me: "Hmmmm."

Playtime

We play, a lot. Outside, library, mall, inside.... We play all day. Sometimes I get tired of playing. The kids never do.

Mall. Happened upon a mall today, and then happened upon the kids area at the mall. Happened upon a lot of fun.

Reading With Dad

We got away from reading to the kids in all the hustle and bustle of moving but are back in the groove. We found a library and last night got a bunch of great books for the kids. I think we have read all 15 of them at least 4 times each since about 7pm last night. And the other night the kids ate popcorn and listened to a few of their favorite books on our family room floor. It was a sweet sight to see.

Settling In

We have found parks, we have found the grocery store, Walmart and the Sprouts, we have found the library and we have found our church. We have used the hot tub a couple of times, we have been to In-N-Out a couple times and we have gotten lost around town more than a couple of times. We have met more neighbors, unpacked more boxes, and used the oven for the first time last night. I have been to garage sales and P. has his public transportation and work schedule figured out.

All is good.

Our church has a big open space in the middle of it for kids to play. They have lots of fun toys to use and there are tons of kids out there before, in between and after services running around having a blast. Our kids ran around and had a blast. They loved their sunday school classes and we ate dinner in the church's cafeteria with friends. It was a great night.


Today we found the library and were there just in time to catch Baby Story Time. Jamie loved it, Pete was bored out of his mind. Well, it was for babies up to 18 months so I can't blame him. Next time we will go to Toddler Time for him. See my curly haired little girl watching intently in the front row?
Then she moved to the back row.
