Updates

11 weeks pregnant today. I am almost done with my first trimester! P., Pete and I went to my second prenatal appointment yesterday, first official doctor's appointment, and I was reminded of why I chose to put myself through this again. For awhile there I was wondering "What was I thinking??????" We heard the strong steady heartbeat and for the first time since seeing that positive pregnancy test I was excited again.

At my first appointment 3 1/2 weeks ago I weighed 159. 8 lbs more than my first prenatal appointment with Pete. I never got around to losing that last few pounds of baby weight but I think I did pretty well. Yesterday I weighed 156. Pregnancy is the only diet that has ever worked for me. And I am not even trying, in fact, I would much rather be able to eat than feel the way I do all day every day. I almost feel hate towards the "man" that named morning sickness, morning sickness. The name doesn't give those of us who feel sick from the minute they wake up until the minute they go to bed enough credit. I make a point of eating whether it sounds good or not for the sake of Pete, the baby and my extremely tired body hence only losing 3 lbs. It could have been a lot worse. My doctor scheduled an ultrasound for Monday to check how far along I am. Because I am still nursing Pete my cycle is not regular and I could have ovulated anywhere within a two week period. I am thrilled that we get to see our little baby this early. God knew I needed the encouragement right now.

Oh and I liked my new doctor. I wasn't completely happy with my last doctors so I changed to a different office and so far I like it. She took her time with me and gave me the compassion I needed regarding my nausea.

Now on to some Pete updates. Oh Pete. My sweet baby boy. I could go on for hours about how proud I am of him. What a great little guy. I can't believe how fast he is growing up. He can feed himself now, pull himself up to stand on pretty much any piece of furniture, he gets people's attention to smile and talk to them and sits in highchairs in restaurants and shopping carts like a big boy now. Pete is such a good boy. We can take Pete anywhere, anytime. Everywhere we take him people comment on what a good, happy boy we have. Today we went to the Olive Garden for lunch and probably 10 people in the restaurant stopped to compliment us on how well behaved Pete was. The waitress fell in love with him. He sat quietly and played with the sugar packed and straws. He ate his food, smiled at everyone, talked with the waitress every time she came by and even though he was tired after a long day of running errands and driving around never once fussed about anything. At the end of every day I can't imagine loving or being more proud of our little boy. I wish everyone we knew could be a part of Pete's life. He is truly a blessing in every way.

Another update....our house is officially up for sale. It went on the market on Monday. We had 6 showings and an Open House in one week with no interest or offer. Am I discouraged, sure. But I never had high hopes for selling it in the first place. With the market and the type of house we are trying to sell I would have been very surprised if we got an offer in the first week. But I still have hope. It will eventually sell. Hopefully soon, probably later. I just have to have patience and trust that when God is done with us here in Grand Rapids that we will be free to move on, to warmer and sunnier days. If you pray, pray that our house sells and P. can find a job back out west. We are ready to go.

I would talk about the weather but I don't want to ruin the mood. Let's just say I am not looking forward to the heating bill this month! Thanks for checking in and stay tuned.

Looking Outside

Now that the Christmas tree is gone we have access to the front window again. Here is a picture of Pete looking outside at our snow covered front yard.
