Family Time
Reading before bed with daddy. Pete is not tired and being a big goof.
Pete helping dad empty the dishwasher.

Today was a beautiful fall day. The weather was nicer than a lot of the days we had in the summer. We went to the park and bbq'd some hot dogs and Pete played in all the leaves.

Ugh
We have all been sick this week so I don't have a lot of exciting pictures to post. Jamie has stayed healthy so far so keep her in your prayers that she stays well. Pete and dad are on their way out of it and mom isn't fairing so well. All this said there won't be any pictures of mom this week. But my babies are still cute. :)
Pete sitting on the back deck yesterday watching the world go by.
Helping dad put together Jamie's bed. She has been sleeping in a pack in play next to our bed since she was born. We tried to move her into her bed this week but it was just easier to move her back and keep her in what she knows, for now, until we all feel better and can handle the change.
Our little angel smiling at mom. She is the cutest smiley girl in the world. I used to wonder how I would love another child as much as I loved Pete but Jamie answered that question easily. She is mommy's little sugar and my heart is overflowing with love for her.

Halloween 2009
Halloween was so much fun. We did what we did last year and went to our friends house in a neighborhood near by. They always have a nice party with lots of good food and good laughs. We had some dinner then took Pete out trick or treating. Our friends stayed with Jamie back at the house so she wouldn't get cold and fussy. It was a cold night but could have been worse. I enjoyed watching Pete experience his first real Halloween so much. It was such a wonderful night. We talked about how next year Jamie will be tagging along with her brother. How fast time goes. How fun life is with children to share it with. How beautiful our children are. How blessed we are.
Our beautiful little girl dressed up as a ducky. Does she look like someone you know?
Pete as a lion. He was walking around the house roaring over and over again. Here he is.....Roooaaarrr!
On they way to the party.

And our newest addition to our Potato Head family. Vampire Potato Head. Thank you Dave, Tina and Lauren for starting this awesome collection of potato head stuff for our kids.

Tigger
Wednesday Pete was Pooh. Friday Pete was Tigger. This Tigger costume came from my childhood friend Julie who sent it us when Pete was born. Her girls had enjoyed many a play days in it and now Pete was going to see dad at work in it. P. took Pete around trick or treating at work to each office. All P.'s coworkers loved seeing him and spoiling him with lots of great candy. Jamie was in this sweet outfit from my friend Allison and her parents. It had black, orange and purple polka dots and cat ears. She was such a doll in it and it was so warm and cozy for a rainy cold day.
Trunk or Treat
A church near our home has this Halloween event every year called Trunk or Treat. They decorate the trunks of cars, trucks and vans and you trick or treat to them in a parking lot. We took Pete last year but of course he wasn't old enough to enjoy or understand it. This year was totally different. P. teaches on Wed nights and I just figured I wasn't going to be able to go but the closer it got the more I wanted to try to go. I called a friend up to see if he would watch Jamie for me so we could go. Pete and I had a ball. It was his first experience with trick or treating and he thought it was the best thing in the whole world. You get to carry this bag and people dressed up as cool things give you candy. Pete loves to people watch. This was a perfect place to people watch and I think he could have sat on the side and watched people all night long. We stayed a little over an hour because my back and neck were killing me. I couldn't put Pete down much because he would wander and we would lose our place in line. I wish we could have stayed longer and watched the fireworks but that's ok. It was a great time just mom and son.
Here is Pete getting candy from Thing 1 and Thing 2.
Mom and Pete standing in the trick or treating line.
Pete and our witch friend behind us. I am so mad I cut off her head in this picture. She reminded me of my niece Holly so much. She had the same voice and beautiful eyes and long eyelashes. Made me miss my sweet Holly.
Pete going through his loot at home.
Our wonderful friend Jim who helped make our night out possible. I thank God every day for providing us with love and support from our friends in MI. I don't know what we would do without them. Can you see poor little Jamie in the background missing out on all the fun. Next year sweetie, next year! Abby enjoyed the attention from Jim that she doesn't get anymore since those darn babies came along. :)

Trying on Costumes
We were extremely lucky to have had some costumes handed down to us since Pete was born. He had a few options to choose from this year. Here are pictures from our costume fashion show. He was so excited to see himself he couldn't wait to get the rest of the costume on before wanting to look in the mirror. Hence the pictures without pants.

New Pics
Tummy time. Jamie is a strong little girl who is going to be off and moving in no time.
Our little sleeping angel. I think she is the prettiest little girl I have ever seen.
Pete playing in daddy's dress socks. They kept falling off and he would come ask me to put them back on.
Playing in the window on a cold rainy day. He is wearing a hat made for him by our friend Chele.
Carving pumpkins.
With Omi and Opa last weekend. They visited for a couple days and spent some good time with us and the kids.
Pete loved stepping in all the pumpkin gook.
Sweet Jamie girl.
All of us with our finished pumpkins.
Smiley Sugar. Jamie's smile can light up a room. Last night daddy was making popping noises at her and she was laughing at him.
Watching poker on tv with daddy.
So, Jamie is 11 weeks old. She is a beautiful happy little girl. She cries so much less than she used to. It's like she figured out her family, home and schedule and has settled into them all very nicely. She is a joy and she brings tears of joy to my eyes a few times a day.
Pete is 18 months old and starting his "next stage". I don't want to call it the "terrible two's" because he is no way terrible. But he is starting to test limits, push buttons, and get hyper. Yesterday he got three time-outs for hitting. The dog and his sister are his targets and it takes all of my attention to make sure neither is seriously hurt. My next challenge is to figure out how to deal with the hitting, throwing, running and yelling without doing them back to him as his punishment. I placed a call to my best friend this morning to get some advise. We will see what she says. But he is also learning some really sweet things too. He gives lots of hugs with tight squeezes and wet sloppy kisses. He can also be really sweet with his sister and loves to look at her, snuggle his head into her and kiss her.
We had a nice weekend with my in-laws and appreciate them taking the time to come see us for a couple of days. We ate out at some nice restaurants, did some shopping and carved pumpkins. We spent time at the house and they were able to hang out with the kids and help us out with them. Halloween is coming up and I am still not sure what the kids are going to be. I have a few options and will try on some different ideas on Pete after his nap today. Jamie gets to wear Pete's from last year. Poor kid. Always gets the leftovers.....
Happy Halloween. Love and miss you all. A.M.

October 20th Already?
Can you believe how fast Oct. has gone? I can't. I can't believe how fast this year has gone! Fall (winter really) is here and the holidays are in sight. The leaves are on the ground and the patio furniture is put away. Our jackets and boots are out and worn in already. The heating bill is already sky high and I am getting anxious about the looming "s" word. Don't want to say it and jinx myself. The days are flying by, the year is almost over and our babies are growing up.
Jamie is 10 weeks old! 10 weeks already. How did this happen so fast? Our little girl fits in 6 month clothes already. She doesn't look like my little newborn anymore but a pretty little girl. I told her last night that she better start slowing down. Looking at her today it doesn't seem like she listened. Jamie is long or tall. She doesn't stand up yet so I am going to say long. When I nurse her her legs hang way down onto the couch under my arm. I can't even hold all of her anymore. She fills the changing table and baby bath tub. She is is healthy and happy. Jamie loves to smile, especially at her mama. But dad has been getting his own load of smiles lately. She is the sweetest thing and I think she is the prettiest baby I have ever seen. Mama loves her baby girl.
Jamie is a great eater. No problems in that area. People say she looks like me, I say she eats like me. She still has all of her thick dark hair. Her baby acne has calmed down a bit and she has beautiful light olive skin. Her eyes are just like mine, maybe even a little more asian than mine even. Her smile is my favorite feature but I love squeezing her chubby, chunky legs. Jamie is sleeping well too. She wakes up once a night and I feed her and she goes back to bed. Some nights are better than others. I am not as tired as I was a month ago but both babies still wear me out every day. Jamie still loves to be held and that takes its toll on my back and shoulders. Her schedule is pretty much like this. Sleep, eat, play with mom, get fussy, get held for a long time, get fussy again, sleep. Repeat. Sometimes we skip the sleep again part and just go back to eating. She doesn't quite sleep as much as she used to and in fact good naps are getting rare. Like today, that leaves me with little time to myself or to get anything done. Right now she is in her crib fussing and I am waiting until the first desperate cry to go get her again. My arms need a break. And I miss blogging so today she can wait a bit longer for mom to come save her.
Pete is a really good boy. He is easy. He is sweet, happy and well behaved. Pete is extremely laid back and incredibly fun to be around. He is on a good schedule now. In bed by 8pm, asleep around 8:30pm, up the next morning around 7:30am. During the day he takes an hour and half nap. Almost to the second. Not bad huh? He is a terrible eater though. Terrible. He has a list of about 10 foods that he will eat. Cheese, bread, Cheerios, any fruit (fresh, frozen or dried), crackers, peanut butter, waffles, yogurt, jarred turkey sticks, and noodles (sometimes). Our choices are pretty limited and I pray every day that God will help broaden his horizons when it comes to good foods. I also pray God will help him learn to talk. And it is working. Pete is talking. Nothing sounds exactly like what it is supposed to yet but he is talking. I would list his words but I don't think I am going to have time for that. His vocabulary is about 10 words now and is growing every day. He started speech therapy about 2 weeks ago and though I think it has helped I don't think it has brought the words out. I think it was just time and Pete does his own thing in his own time. You cannot force it with Pete. I was never worried about him talking though. If you spent all day every day with him you would know he is incredibly smart. Just like his laid back attitude, he is in no hurry to rush into anything like walking or talking. Maybe he knows he has the rest of his life to do them anyway.
P. is doing great. He is an amazing father and perfect husband. He loves his kids more than anything in the whole world and shows it every day. His job is going very well and he loves the work he does and all the responsibilities he has.
I feel like there is so much more to tell but my babies need me now. It was nice to sit and write for a bit though. Hope I can do it again soon. A.M.

Happy Halloween. My best friend Kristyn sent Jamie this sweet little outfit that says Too Cute To Scare on it.
Took a trip back to the orchard again yesterday. It's this wonderful place with apple picking, pumpkin picking, hay rides, and tons of things to do for kids. The driver of the pumpkin train let Pete sit in the tractor. He loved it.
The weather was much warmer this time so we enjoyed our apple picking much more. These Jonagold apples are so yummy. Pete LOVES them.

Earlier on in the week P. took the kids out for a walk. It was a cold day, can you tell?

Jamie Smiles
I have been trying to catch some of Jamie's smiles on video lately. Jamie smiles at me all the time. She has the cutest full face smiles that bring so much joy to my day. Usually I don't have my camera by me to catch them but this one day I caught a few. She smiled, and smiled, then fell asleep. My sweet little angel.
Silly Boy
